After a successful ALICE drill, we returned to our regular routine this morning. We welcomed Shree to our classroom and had a chance to share about some of our routines and favorite things about Room 1. I felt so proud of the way that the Kindergarteners welcomed Shree into our classroom.  We are so glad to have you here!

During Open Circle we discussed teasing. I explained that teasing can be a "Double D" (Dangerous and Destructive) behavior and that it might be necessary to have a teacher help you if someone is teasing.   I shared some stories of teasing and we brainstormed what can be done in those situations to help if someone else is being teased or if you are being teased.

We learned two new letter sounds during Fundations - e-Ed-e and r-rat-r. We also practiced writing these letters- "e" proved to be a bit tricky. We'll continue practicing for quite a while!

We ended our day with math where we sorted different types of candy.  We noticed that we can sort candy in all sorts of ways: by shape, type, size, nuts/no nuts, etc. (FYI- we didn't use actual candy, but pictures of candy). I encouraged the children to go home and sort their actual candy in as many ways as they can!!
