Thank you to everyone for helping your children be so well prepared for the snow today! The Kindergarteners had a blast walking through the snow, making snow angels, and even examining it for bits of debris and dirt. It was a very exciting (yet cold!) recess!
We had fun in the classroom too! We had an indoor "snowball" fight during math! Each child was asked to write a number between 0 and 11 on a piece of paper and then to crumple the paper. Next, we threw our "snowballs'". When the children picked up a new snowball, they had to uncrumple it and write the numbers that came next. It was a great way to review number writing, number sequence and how to have fun during math! We also reviewed how to properly write the numbers 4 and 5 with the following chants -Down and across and down once more, that's the way to make a 4 and First you make him skinny then you make him fat, then you put on a hat (for 5).
We also finished our Literacy Centers this morning after reading the book The Other Side. We have been actively adding to our K/W/L chart with all the facts we have learned about Martin Luther King, Jr. We are curious to see what the Kindergarteners write about tomorrow when we ask what they would do to make change in the world. We'll let you know!
