We started our morning with a Mystery Reader! Maya's mom joined us to read And To Think It Happened on Mulberry Street by Dr. Seuss. Thank you for joining us this morning!
We also had more of our shares during morning meeting time- the children, once again, spoke clearly and did a great job explaining their projects and photographs that were brought in to share.
We started Literacy Centers today. During this time, the children are working in small groups to work on specific literacy skills. One group always meets with me in a guided reading group, while another plays a game with Ms. Dennehy. Today children worked with me on the reading strategy of "Eagle Eye" (looking at the picture to figure out a word) while some played BINGO with Ms. Dennehy to find beginning and ending sounds of specific words. Others completed a sort of words that start with "S" and "M", used Lexia on the i-Pad, or read independently. The Kindergarteners reflected that they had a lot of fun during this time!
The children also learned the sound of "P"- p-pan-p and "J"-j-jug-j during Fundations. The class was very excited because both these letters go down to the worm line!
We ended our day finishing up the math stations that we started earlier in the week. We are now focusing on more than and less than and comparing of two sets of numbers.
