We started our morning with a phonics lesson where we sorted words that begin with "T" and those that begin with "H". We continued to practice writing and stretching the words that we sorted, focusing on the beginning and ending sounds. We then transitioned to Literacy Centers where children continued to play a rhyming game, worked on writing down their addresses, and learned step-by-step how to draw a house. We look forward to seeing these skills eventually transfer to their work when working independently.
During our science time this aftertoon, we read the book Leaf Man by Lois Elhert and started making our own fall creations from the items we collected last week on our leaf walk. For some it was challenging to think creatively, but we referred back to the book Beautiful Oops emphasizing that anything can be made from something, even something that seems like a mistake!! :-). The Kindergarteners will continue working on these tomorrow morning.
