We started the day by sharing during our morning meeting with the song "Sharing, Listening and Caring." Many children shared about their plans for the holidays or simply who brought them to school today. As with many parts of our day, this is an opportunity for children to practice speaking up in front of the group and learning about their classmates.
We finished our Literacy Center rotations today and one group had the opportunity to share a sequencing activity as a response to a book that they read. After vacation, we will be changing many of the groups and the Kindergarteners will be getting new books to read. During Phonics we introduced the sound of short o- sick fox, o is the chant.
During math today, the Kindergarteners had the opportunity to practice measurement by measuring each other! Using unifix cubes, links, and other manipulatives, the children estimated the "length" of their partner and then measured! This was a lot of fun and good way to reinforce end to end measurement.
Quick Reminder: We would love some of your recyclable materials (egg cartons, cereal boxes, bottles or cans)-- feel free to send them in with your child!
