The children were so excited to finish up their Plus and Minus people as they started their day. The Kindergarteners folded, glued, and checked their equations to finish up this project. Feel free to come and check them out- they're hanging up in our classroom!
We also drew our self portraits for the month of January (just made it!). After Ms. Dennehy reviewed how to draw our faces and went step by step through the process, each child looked at what he/she drew last night and what they could improve and what they liked about their portrait. We hope that that our drawing lessons will transfer to their stories and journals during Writer's Workshop.
Our day ended with math as we played "Clear The Deck". The children worked in pairs. Each child had a double ten frame (equaling 20) where they had roll and plus/minus die along with a numeral die to clear the board. This was a great way for the children to show an undersanding of addition and subtraction.
