We started our morning by beginning a new author study, Eric Carle! Many of his books are already familiar to the Kindergarteners and they were very excited to listen to the book The Very Hungry Caterpillar. I told the class that we will be checking out Eric Carle's website as well as creating art in response to his books. Feel free to send in any books that you might have at home!
We turned over the letter Z- Zipping Zipper during phonics today and brainstormed words beginning with "Z". We also had a "snowball fight" where the children practiced reading sight words. See if your child can remember how we played!
We finished up our math stations this afternoon. The Kindergarteners should understand that a "-" symbol means take away, while "+" means to add more. We will be starting to tell stories using these symbols next week, as well as play more games to reinforce the concept of addition and subtraction.
