We started our day with a fabulous interactive presentation by Bren Bataclan, the artist who will be painting mural of our chosen leaders. Mr. Bataclan walked the students through a drawing presentation, showing how he does his art and encouraging each child to try and draw. He talked about not using erasers, because every mistake can turn into something beautiful! He then asked each Kindergartener to draw a simple sketch of Martin Luther KIng, Jr., our chosen leader. Bren will then use our drawings to create his final mural which will be displayed outside our classroom.
During math today, we finished learning the chants for the numbers 7, 8, and 9. These numbers, particularly 2, 4, and 8, are very tricky for Kindergarteners. We will continue to review the chants and have children practice writing these numbers all year long!
