We started our day with a review of the teen numbers. The Kindergarteners were given a teen number and were asked to find the person who had their matching numbers. Next, they had to represent their numbers as "ten and some more" .
During phonics today, we introduced the sound of short a- calling lamb or munching apple- "A". We then looked at r pictures- hat, cat, cap, and mat - and tapped out the sounds and then wrote each word. We will continue to focus on short A and the long vowel sounds until vacation. After vacation , we will introduce the sound of short i.
In math today, we talked about peas and carrots! To reinforce the concept of "part, part, whole" , children were asked to take a total of 7 peas and carrots. They then had to glue them to their plate and create a part, part, whole expression. Those who needed an extension activity were then asked to create 4 equations based on "part, part, whole".
