During Open Circle today, we talked about the power of the word "yet". We discussed how adding the word "yet" to the sentence "I can't...." can completely change your perspective. The children then had a chance to think about something they can't do (yet), and then tell the group with adding the word "yet" to their sentence. We talked about the importance of practice, positive self talk, and the help of others to help them accomplish their goals!
The class was very excited to learn about their Upham School (in Wellesley) pen pals! Starting last year, my class has partnered up with Ms. Bergeron's (a Loker mom) Kindergarten class at the Upham School. Each child wrote a letter to a child in her Kindergarten class. We will "mail" these letters and start forming a relationship with the children in Ms. Bergeron's class. We will then plan an opportunity for us to meet each other (either we will go to the Upham School or they will come here) where the children can meet their pen pals! We hope it will be a very rewarding and exciting experience for all!
