We had a fabulous and busy day today! We started the day with a continuation of Literacy Centers and then the Kindergarteners were introduced to "Reading Shuffle". This will be a time (twice a week) when we will combine with the other Kindergarten class. During this time, children will work in small groups with one of the Kindergarten teachers (Ms. Abrams. Ms. Cappelucci, Ms. Dennehy or me) , Ms. Johnson, our special-education liason, or Ms. Sontag, our reading specialist to focus on a specific skill. The Kindergarteners were very excited to be in groups with new children and to try something new! The groups for Reading Shuffle are dynamic, depending on the skills that we are focusing on.
We also hung up our bird feeders this afternoon! Like good engineers and scientists, we will evaluate how the bird feeders work and then make the necessary adjustments. The Kindergarteners made predictions of what they think might work and what will not work and may need to be changed.
During math, we made 10-bead bracelets. We will use these next week as a way to continue working on part-part-whole. After the Kindergarteners use them in class, we will send these home for the Kindergartners to practice and explain their thinking to you.
* I apologize that there aren't any pictures on today's blog. The website was not cooperating :-(
