While I attended a Kindergarten workshop, the Kindergarteners had a fabulous day with Ms. Richlen and Mrs. Lewis. During Open Circle, the class talked about tone of voice and the importance of body language when communicating with others. Examples were given of how the tone of one's voice or the way one's body looks can change the meaning of the message you are trying to say.
During Fundations, the Kindergarteners worked on unscrambling a sentence. They were asked to cut out the individual words, figure out which word came first (based on punctuation) , which word came last, and then to illustrate the sentence.
We ended our day with Math where children put together a puzzle of teen numbers 11-19! Not only was this fun, but it was a great review of recognition of teen numbers and to understand that the second digit can be a good hint for how to say the teen number.
