We started our morning by attending school meeting. The focus of school meeting was about being an "upstander" as opposed to a "bystander". The Fifth Graders performed a play to show the importance of standing up not only for yourself, but also for what you believe in and for your friends. Ask your child what he/she remembers about the importance of being an upstander.
After playing volleyball during P.E. time, Elyse's mom came in and read to us as the Star Reader. She read the book Trixie Ten which was about a child who has 10 brothers and sisters! The Kindergarteners enjoyed listening to this book very much.
During Writer's Workshop, we wrote a book giving Harper advice about being a big sister AND a little sister (congratulations to Harper's family on the birth of Indie! ). The KIndergarteners did such a great job thinking of suggestions- they were very excited to give this book to Harper.
During math, we made equations on kites! The children were all assigned a number and to answer specific questions, such as "what's one more?", "what's one less?", "how can you draw the number" to show an understanding of their specific number. These spring kites will be hanging up shortly in our classroom (to replace our winter mittens)!
