This morning during Open Circle, we continued to discuss the Zones of Regulation. We described the way we might feel when in the different zones. Then, I showed the children visuals for how to stay in the green zone/ move out of the other zones that might not feel as comfortable. Next week, we will sort pictures to represent the different zones of regulation.
During Reader's Workshop, I met with guided reading groups and continued to discuss strategies to figure out unknown words. During this time, the other Kindergarteners did a great job reading independently, either from their book bins or from familiar books around the room.
We ended the day with math. The Kindergarteners cut out different shapes and were then asked to listen to directions as they were asked to place these shapes "above", "below" , "next to" "to the left" or "to the right" of a duck. This was challenging for some and a good review for others.
