The class had another great day today! They met the author Matt De La Pena. Mr. LaPena described how we thinks of ideas for his books, writes books and then has to edit the books that he writes! He told the Kindergarteners that one time he had to rewrite a book over 100 times! This lesson in perseverance was a great one for the Kindergarteners to learn. We hope that they will be inspired to write and illustrate even more!
During math, the class played the Hexagon game. In this game, the Kindergarteners worked in partners. They rolled a dice that had a hexagon, triangle, and trapezoid. The goal is to fill 6 hexagons with the shape that they roll on the dice. The goal of the game is for the Kindergarteners to understand that the bigger shape (the hexagon) can be made out of smaller shapes.
