This morning we were treated to two books being read by Charlie's Star Readers. His family joined us this morning and read If You Bring a Mouse to School and The Kissing Hand. Thank you for spending part of your day with us!
We also had Reading Workshop- some children met with me in a guided reading group, while others read independently. Ms. Dennehy took time to read with children during this time and to give them new books for their book bins. It was a very calm and peaceful time.
The Kindergarteners were so excited to get their official Writer's Workshop folders today! I modeled how to plan and write a simple story and then had the children try! They were so excited with their ideas and used their "Map of The Heart" to get them started. Ask your child what he/she is writing about!
We ended our day with marshmallows and toothpicks. After a group "quiz" about shapes, the Kindergarteners were able to use these materials to make shapes and creations. We sent them home today- I hope they made it home without being eaten!!
