There continues to be an air of excitement in the room as the children are feeling very excited about all their skills and abilities- it is a fabulous time of the year!
During Fundations, the class used the gel boards to spell items that we picked out of a paper bag. We continued to reinforce when to use "c" and when to use "k" at the beginning of a word. We also tapped and sounded out nonsense words.
During Open Circle, we practiced "stopping, listening, and looking" to make sure that we know the directions that are being spoken. We gave multi-step directions and the children had to repeat and then do what was expected. This was hard! We will keep practicing.
For math, the Kindergarteners were challenged to write their own math word problems. I gave starting words of "I have" and children were expected to write a story, draw a picture, and write an equation. We look forward to sharing these with the class and having the chidlren solve each other's problems.
