We read our first Lio Lionni book today! We read Frederick after we felt inspired by the fact that Julie and Else had clothing with pictures of Frederick and other friends! We also checked out the following website which shows a video of Lio Lionni and the way he comes up with his ideas. You can access his website here....
After being inspired by Lio Lionni , other authors (who are in KIndergarten!) shared their writing with us. This then made a fabulous transition to Writer' s Workshop where children are having a great time doing all sorts of writing: lists, how-to books, letters, and narratives.
We finished our day with math. The children made addition and subtraction people!! We first defined addition ("putting together") and subtraction (" taking away")
