We started our morning with a new greeting where children were in 2 circles, rotating and greeting each other. The goal of this activity was to encourage the Kindergarteners to greet new children and to follow directions. We then did a share activity called "Me, Too!" where one child would share one thing that he/she likes to do or something about his/her family. Then, if someone had the same thing in common, he/she would walk into the circle and say "me, too!". It was a great way to get to know each just a little bit more.
We then dissected an apple and identified the different parts of an apple. The Kindergarteners then made an apple from paper and labeled the following parts: skin, flesh, leaf, stem, and seeds. Ask your child which parts he/she remembers.
Finally, during math the children worked in pairs on a game called "Build-It". They were asked to turn over a numeral card and then put the appropirate number of cubes on the paper. When the next card was turned over, the partner either had to add cubes or take away cubes. We will continue to play this game at Math Stations next week.
