Today we read one of my favorite books, Beautiful Oops by Barney Saltzberg. This book shows how making a mistake can lead to making something beautiful. A simple message, but one of great importance.
We continued to work on our All About Me Books as we drew our houses. We noticed that by using squares and rectangles we can draw our houses, including the chimney and windows. The Kindergarteners really seem to be enjoying working on these books- I look forward to sharing them with you soon:-)
During Fundations, we talked about the fact that a sentence is made of words. We created sentences where we changed the name and children came up to read each sentence! I also introduced the concept of a "period" which goes at the end of a sentence. As you're reading to your child tonight, see if he/she can find the period at the end of a sentence!
We ended the day with math as we watched a quick song about a thermometer and then learned about the different zones on a thermometer. The children were then asked to mark their own thermometer with the different color zones and then to cut out the clothes that go with each zone. We will continue working on this tomorrow.
