We had such a fabulous day today in Room 1! We started our morning with a school meeting where Team Pride and Ms. Grieco, head of the school committee, discussed an election works and the importance of voting for a candidate and the issues that the candidate stands for. We also watched a debate between a "candidate" who wanted to institute an ice cream all day policy vs. a candidate who wanted to institute a kale all day policy. I think the Kindergarteners enjoyed watching this debate! :-)
We also continued with our Literacy Centers this morning, after identifying the beginning and ending sounds of words. We also looked at a pair of words and children had to figure out the spoken word by looking at the beginning letter or ending letter. This lesson taught the strategy of clues when trying to figure out an unknown word.
During math today, we created a class graph based on our favorite lunch foods. The class then recreated the graph on a smaller piece of paper, practicing how to put an "x" in each square to represent each vote. We will make another graph tomorrow based on the letters in our name!
